Palm Beach Atlantic University and the NCCAA have partnered with the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott to be the official host hotel for all teams participating in this year’s tournament. One of the finest hotels in the area, the PBG-Marriott is an 11-story, 254 room hotel that has graciously offered to not only serve as a place for the tournament team participants to stay at but also welcomes in parents and fans an affordable place to stay during your time in Palm Beach County. Tournament Location
Lake Catherine Sportsplex 9470 MacArthur Blvd. Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 Located just two miles from the hotel, the Lake Catherine Sportsplex will be the site for this year’s NCCAA Softball National Championships. One of the finest softball facilities in the state of Florida, visiting teams will have the opportunity to utilize full batting cages and bullpen mounds as a part of each of the four-field setup at Lake Catherine. Built with the casual fan in mind, nearly all game-viewing areas are equipped with shade cover as well as full bathroom and concession areas. The facility also features a large-scale pressbox with each field having its own scoreboard and public address system. Central Baptist College wins the 2010 NCCAA Softball Championship Tournament Service Project/Tournament Kick-Off Event
Where: Lake Catherine Sportsplex
When: Wednesday, May 12th, 5:00 pm
What to Wear: Team Practice Gear (Team T-Shirt, shorts, etc.)
The kickoff event will combine the aspects of the pre-tourney banquet and service project. The evening will start with each college team paired with a local youth team. During approximately a one hour session, the collegiate teams will conduct a clinic with the youth teams that will specialize in skill instruction and interaction between college players and youth players. Upon the completion of the clinic time, all participants, including college teams and youth teams, will be invited to take part in a catered meal prepared by tournament sponsor Quarterdeck Restaurant.
All college and youth participants will be admitted free to the dinner. Recommended attire is that of team practice or travel gear.
We are requesting that all participating teams show some uniformity in their attire for the clinic session.
Each collegiate coach should have a prepared one hour “practice plan” prepared for the clinic session. The youth teams will provide equipment such as softballs, bats, etc. More information will be provided beforehand.
Tournament Statistics
Every game of the 2010 NCCAA Softball World Series will be covered by the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sports Information office from a statistical standpoint using the statistical program, Statcrew. Each coach will receive a printed copy of the game’s box score and play-by-play after each game. Full tournament recaps and statistics will be also available at the conclusion of the tournament.
Athletic Training
The Palm Beach Atlantic University athletic training staff, led by PBA head athletic trainer Jennifer Farroll and assistant athletic trainer Holly Hill, will be on-site for the duration of the tournament and will be able to provide basic medical care to visiting teams who are unable to bring an athletic trainer with them for the tournament. Post-game ice, stretching, and first aid will be provided as well as other necessary medical needs that may arise during the course of the three-day tournament. Any taping that is needed by an athlete can be accommodated but it is suggested that visiting teams provide their own taping supplies. Modalities may also be done on-site however a note from the Universities certified athletic trainer must be presented for them to be done by the PBA athletic training staff.
