WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball team will once again be hosting an early-season game at nearby Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida to help kickoff the 2013 campaign. The Spring Training home of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, Roger Dean Stadium will host the Sailfish and Fighting Knights of Lynn University on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 pm.
The game is free and open to the public while there will be concessions on sale for the entire family to enjoy an evening at the ballpark. In-game promotions for fans of all ages and special preparations are being made for PBA Baseball Alumni in attendance.
This marks the fourth straight season the Sailfish have hosted an early-season contest at Roger Dean Stadium while they hope to continue their winning ways from their matchup with Lynn University a season ago.
PBA and Lynn were tied at 2-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning as senior catcher Travis Murray stepped in and delivered a walk-off single up the middle to send the Fish and their fans to an exciting finish.
The Sailfish are scheduled to open their 2013 slate in Valdosta, Georgia this weekend by participating in the Comfort Suites Classic hosted by Valdosta State University.
Palm Beach Atlantic opens play against the host Blazers on Friday, Feb. 1 at 6 pm followed by a 6 pm date with the University of North Georgia on Saturday. PBA and Lynn will square off for the first of four meetings in 2013 on Sunday at 11 am to wrap up the trip.
The team will have their official home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 5 when they battle Florida Memorial University at 6 pm at Palm Beach Gardens High School.
